Awoke to find that the forecast had been accurate - rain all the way to Hamburg.  Set off in our waterproofs to find after only a couple of miles that our gloves and boots were anything but. Had a couple of breaks to get out of the rain.  One in a coffee shop:

We offered to mop up the large puddle we had left on the floor and set off to cross the docklannds and industrial estates of Hamburg, finally reaching Anke & Axel's place around 2 pm. Enjoyed a coffee in dry clothes while patting the rather large Bernese Mountain dog they own:

Axel and Anke then took us on a sightseeing tour of Hamberg - including the Beatles statue and two clubs where they played in the late 50s ealy 60s.

Unfortunately the wethar did not do justics to some of the amazing architecture.  Here are some views from the internet:

We then met up with Jens and Chris for a meal at a German-Austrian restaurant which was superb.  Back to Jens and Chris's apartment for an early night ready for the ride down to Willingen in the morning. The bikes left safely at Axel & Anke's place:

Distance Travelled: 120 miles
