Woke early and left Chris and Jens' appartment.  Set off to our gathering points and left Hamburg around 9.30 with 7 bikes.  In the convoy were Dave & I, Anke, Chris, Jens, Olly, Sylvie and Hunni.

Travelled south leaving the Hamburg area for open countryside and woods.  Saw a Red Kite overhead.  Stopped a few times for petrol & coffee and the odd nibble.

Continued on up the Weser valley and stopped at an old farmstead for late afternoon lunch.

Carried on into more hilly country with some fantastic windy roads and great vistas. On our final approach to Willingen we had a satnav problem.  The satnav attempted to hold us in a circling pattern about 20 km from our destination which gave rise to some 'artistic differences' of opinion within the group.  With petrol running very low we arrived in the delightful ski resort town of Willingen - only to find the petrol station closed for the night.  Limping up the hill to our hotel we met a warm welcome.

Once luggage was unloaded we took a taxi into town and found a Bavarian restaurant which had schnitzel with noodles and crisp apple strudel and quite a few of my favourite things.

After two large beers and the obligatory Jack Daniels we retired to bed exhausted.

Distance travelled 300 miles
